Portland Monthly Editors Pick of DOC

Our thanks to Rod Hill and KGW for checking out the NE 30th & Killingsworth Block Party last night. Watch Rod's live interview with Dayna here.

Block Party Review: kgw.com

Dining at NE Killingsworth's DOC feels a little like stumbling into a private party full of people who know a ton about food: Guests walk through the front-of-house kitchen into an intimate dining room where chef Jobie Bailey (with new co-chef Paul Losch) uses ingredients fresh plucked from his backyard garden. In a city where "seasonal" is a menu must-have, DOC's truly highlights the Pacific Northwest's best.

I’ve been to DOC twice in recent weeks, each time with an army of carnivores. Much to my surprise, both times everyone at the table agreed that their favorite dish was the wild nettle & Oregon truffle lasagna topped with a soft farm egg—earthy and decadent, it’s a truly elegant rendition of an old standard.

“THE BEST THING I ATE ALL YEAR: It’s a tie: 1) The albacore with peaches, corn, and nardello peppers at DOC in September was pure late-summer on a plate. 2) The huevos rancheros at Helser’s on Alberta—a frequent menu special and a truly perfect stack of crispy corn tortillas, savory braised beef, black bean chili, cheese, fresh salsa, eggs, and crème fraiche.” – Anna Saches (Food Blogger, Portland Monthly’s Eat Beat)
